June 2022 sedan sales – Volkswagen Virtus starts its innings on a high note, Tata Tigor achieves breakthrough growth
In June, 2022, sedan sales, there were some interesting developments in the C segment with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz posting good sales after a long time. Volkswagen Virtus has started its innings on a high note.
In the B segment, as usual, Maruti Suzuki Dzire took the lead selling 12,597 units. It maintained its pandemic performance. Dzire was distantly followed by Tata Tigor, which of late, is registering impressive sales. It has posted a whooping 358 percent growth.

At number 3, Hyundai Aura recorded 4102-unit sales with marginal growth of 31 percent. The last place was taken by Honda Amaze which recorded a 3350-unit sales with a growth of 125 percent.
In the C segment, Honda City, again, took away the title from the latest entrant Skoda Slavia. The City recorded 3292-unit sales with a growth of 28 percent. The Slavia followed it selling 2765 units.

The Slavia’s drop in sales comes courtesy to Skoda’s recent move to downgrade the features of the sedan citing global chip shortage. It replaced the factory infotainment system with an 8-inch Panasonic unit.
Skoda Slavia’s cousin Volkswagen Virtus has set itself off on a flying start. The German car, which has replaced the Vento, has sold a good 1850 units in its very first month. The last 2 places were taken by Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The latter has posted 150 percent growth.

In the entry-level luxury segment, the positions are same as the previous month with Skoda Superb leading the chart. It has sold a decent 139 units with a growth of 19 percent. It was closely followed by Toyota Camry and Skoda Octavia.
