In June, 2022, scooter sales, almost all top-sellers have registered growth, Yamaha scooters have posted incredible growth
In June, 2022, scooter sales are back to pre-Covid levels with almost all registering excellent YoY growth. Honda Activa 110 and 125 took the top honours selling 1,84,305 units with a YoY growth of 95 percent. They have nearly doubled their last year’s performance.
TVS Jupiter 110 and 125 distantly followed the Activas selling 62,851 combined. Like the Honda models, TVS too witnessed the Jupiter’s sales nearly doubling this time when compared to last year.
At number 3, Suzuki Access 125 nearly maintained its last year’s sales selling close to 35k units. At number 4, Honda’s moto scooter, Dio, has registered more than 26k-unit sales with a YoY growth of 39 percent.
At number 5, TVS Ntorq 125 sold 22,741 units with a growth of 46 percent. It’s close to the heels of the Dio. Hero Pleasure+ XTEC took the sixth spot selling 11,321 units. It’s the only scooter to have posted negative growth in this list. It’s also the only Hero scooter here.
The low sales of Hero scooters can be attributed to their new engines which, as per users, are neither refined nor fuel efficient like their Japanese counterparts. Hero scooters’ polarising designs could be another reason.
The seventh and eighth places were taken by Suzukis – Avenis and Burgman Street. Both sold close to 10k units and have established themselves in the market. However, Yamaha has become the star of the show this time.
The Rayzr 125 and Street Rally combo and Fascino 125 took the last 2 places. Both have recorded incredible YoY growth of more than 260 percent.
