There has been a lot of speculation and a lot of media attention to this vehicle with spy pictures being spotted many times here and there. But now, it’s time for the official unveil of the fastest Mini ever, the John Cooper Works GP Special. John Cooper Works, a British based company had earlier developed the first JCW GP model which got a 1.6-litre force-fed gasoline engine producing 210 BHP of power and 244 NM of torque.
The new generation JCW GP Special Mini is an impressive 19 seconds faster than the previous generation model at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The new generation car lapped the track in just 8 minutes 23 seconds. Although, JCW GP has not revealed how many horsepowers the car gets under the hood, according to rumours it gets a 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine has been tweaked to deliver 220- to 230-horses.
The new generation JCW GP Mini also gets a re-worked chassis with upgrades including an adjustable sports suspension, four-spoke lightweight alloys, race-spec brakes and tires, plus new aerodynamic parts such as larger front and rear aprons, bespoke side skirts and roof spoiler, and a newly developed rear diffuser. Only 2000 such units will be built worldwide and is expected to go on sale later this year.
