Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has revealed its new “Active Road Noise Cancellation” technology and has introduced it in the latest Jaguar F-Pace and XF and Range Rover Velar.
According to the luxury carmaker, the technology is capable of lowering unwanted road and tyre noises by 10 dB and overall noise levels by 3-4 dB.
This is done by using sensors on each wheel to monitor vibrations in real-time. Further, the opposite phase sound wave is calculated at once and played through the Meridian sound system present in the vehicle.
Also, the tech reduces exposure to low-frequency noises up to 300 Hz which, JLR claims, can help prevent driver fatigue on longer journeys. Further, the vehicle monitoring cabin occupancy tech aids the system as well.
Fatigue, according to JLR, affects the ability of a driver to deal with hazards or unexpected events since the average reaction time increases by 16.72 percent.
In the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace and Range Rover Velar (P400e PHEV), this JLR Active road noise cancellation tech works along with the tech that eliminates engine noise, for a more pleasant drive.
