Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk Concept EV gets a 600 HP powertrain
Jeep has unveiled the near-production concept of its large all-electric SUV, the Wagoneer S Trailhawk, designed for off-road performance. This new variant is expected to be introduced in international markets, bringing significant modifications over the standard Wagoneer S to enhance its ruggedness and trail capabilities.
The Wagoneer S Trailhawk is likely to share its core mechanical components with the standard Wagoneer S, including a 100.5-kWh battery pack and a powerful 600 HP dual-motor drivetrain. Despite Jeep not officially disclosing detailed specifications, the brand assures that this concept vehicle maintains “all the capability of the new production vehicle.”
Key upgrades on the Trailhawk include a raised suspension by 2 inches, which allows for greater ground clearance and new 31.5-inch all-terrain tyres designed to handle rough terrains. Additionally, the SUV features a redesigned grille, added tow hooks on the bumpers and anti-scratch cladding on lower surfaces to protect against off-road damage. Functional air vents are also incorporated to alleviate high-pressure zones in the wheel wells during high-speed driving.
True to the Trailhawk lineage, the Wagoneer S Trailhawk is equipped with advanced off-road features. It includes a Rock drive mode in addition to the standard Auto, Sand, Snow, Eco and Sport modes. A driver-selectable electronic locking rear axle is also added, enhancing the vehicle’s traction on uneven surfaces.
The interior of the Trailhawk concept is notably different from the standard model. It sports a new octagon-shaped steering wheel and a red-coloured switch panel in the centre console dedicated to drive modes and differential lock controls. A passenger grab handle is also included, emphasising the vehicle’s off-road orientation.
The additional off-road capabilities and features, which affect the vehicle’s weight, are anticipated to reduce the Trailhawk’s driving range compared to the standard Wagoneer S, which claims a range of over 480 km.
While the Wagoneer S Trailhawk is not expected to be introduced in the Indian market, Jeep has ambitious plans for India. The company is gearing up to launch the next-generation Compass by 2026, which will include turbo petrol and diesel powertrains along with an all-electric version. Jeep’s sister brand Citroen will also leverage the STLA Medium platform, intended for the new Compass, to support its upcoming models.
