Jeep has planned to globally unveil the Compass 7-seater it is working on by this year and the carmaker will go on to launch the model in India by mid-2022.
Codenamed H6, the 7-seater Compass will share its underpinnings with the 5-seater Compass which received a facelift only recently.
Thus, the bigger version of the midsize SUV will look largely similar to its smaller sibling, with the main changes occurring from the C pillar onwards.
The car is expected to feature longer rear doors and a more upright rear profile which will also feature unique styling, aping that of the Grand Cherokee L. We cannot dismiss the fact that Jeep might try and give the car a slightly different “face” too.
However, the interior of the SUV will pretty much be like the Compass 5-seater, apart from the extra set of seats and the availability of captain chairs in the 6-seater version.
While details like dimensions, kerb weight and powertrain will be revealed during the Jeep Compass 7-seater unveil event, it is more likely that the 2.0-litre turbo diesel from the 5-seater Compass will power the car.
But, it should produce more power and be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed auto, while all-wheel-drive will also be on offer. The availability of a petrol heart is not known.
Production of the 7-seater Compass will commence in April next year here and it is Jeep’s Indian factory that will be the global production hub for the right-hand-drive version of the SUV.
Price-wise, expect the Compass 7-seater to cost more than the 5-seater model it will be based on which costs between Rs. 16.99 lakhs and Rs. 28.29 lakhs (ex-showroom).
