The Jeep Renegade was recently spied testing in Mumbai which indicates that the manufacturer will soon add the compact SUV to its lineup. To join the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler Unlimited.
Jeep is the most awaited luxury debut of 2016 which will enter the Indian market with the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler Unlimited and the performance bred Grand Cherokee SRT, this lineup is also expected to get the Renegade compact SUV soon as it was recently spied testing by our reader Dharmendra Sahani near MIDC Airoli in Thane, Mumbai.
The spied Jeep Renegade was completely camouflaged with only the tail lamps, rear windscreen and windows visible. But the overall stance of the SUV and the tail lamps disclose that India will get the original Renegade without any modifications. The compact SUV was accompanied by a Wrangler Unlimited without camouflage.
Internationally, the Jeep Renegade is powered by 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre diesel engines which are offered with an option of 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission and 4WD is also available as an option. However, the Indian spec is not expected to be offered with all of these options.
Jeep announced the launch of the Renegade in 2012 but then cancelled it, however the American manufacturer seems to have given a second thought to the matter looking at the growing popularity of compact SUVs in India. FCA is planning to produce a number of products in India and hence the compact SUV could have been imported for testing purposes only, so nothing can be no confirmed at this point of time.
Jeep will make its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo with all the three products while the sales will begin by mid 2016. The Fiat dealerships across the country will be selling the SUVs until the American manufacturer sets up a chain of dealerships for itself.
