Jeep Meridian Facelift Launched, Priced From Rs. 25 Lakhs

Jeep Meridian facelift gets attractive introductory pricing & new features

Jeep Meridian facelift launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 24.99 lakhs (ex-showroom & introductory). This launch marks a significant reduction in the entry price compared to the previous model, which started at Rs. 31.23 lakhs. The facelifted Meridian now comes in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, offering more versatility and a wider price range for consumers.

The introduction of the 5-seater variant has helped lower the starting price by Rs. 6.24 lakhs. Bookings for the new Meridian are now open, with deliveries expected to commence by the end of October.

Trim Options and Price Structure

The updated Jeep Meridian is available in four trims: Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O) and Overland. Notably, the base Longitude trim is available only in the 5-seater configuration, while other trims offer both 5- and 7-seater options. Jeep has yet to reveal the complete pricing details for all the variants.

Exterior and Interior Changes

The facelift brings subtle exterior changes, including a reworked seven-slat grille with chrome studs and a refreshed design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, which resembles the Overland Edition of the previous model.

Inside, the cabin layout remains largely unchanged but there are a few updates. The dashboard now features a suede finish with copper stitching, replacing the chrome strip with a copper one. The seats are updated with beige upholstery. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system are retained, along with features like a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats.

Advanced Features and Technology

The most significant upgrade comes with the addition of a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite in the top-spec Overland trim. This includes features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist. Additionally, the Meridian facelift now offers expanded connected car technology, including Alexa Home integration.

Boot Space and Practicality

The boot space in the 5-seater variant is 670 litres, while the 7-seater version offers 824 litres with the second row folded down. However, with all three rows in use, the 7-seater variant provides only 170 litres of boot space, making it a practical choice for families needing extra storage.

Engine and Powertrain

Mechanically, the Jeep Meridian facelift remains unchanged from its predecessor. It continues to be powered by the 170 HP, 350 Nm 2.0-litre diesel engine, available with both a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The model also offers both 4×2 and 4×4 options.

Competition and Market Positioning

With the introduction of the 5-seater variant, the Meridian now overlaps with Jeep’s smaller SUV, the Compass, which is priced between Rs. 18.99 lakhs and Rs. 32.41 lakhs (ex-showroom). This move by Jeep seems aimed at capturing a broader market segment, offering a premium experience at a more accessible price point.
