Fiat has imported one unit of the craziest Jeep in the world, the Grand Cherokee SRT into India. The 6.4-litre engine beast might be launched alongside other models at the Auto Expo 2016.
When we think of powerful SUVs, the few names that come to our mind are Range Rover supercharged petrol variants, Mercedes AMG SUVs and the BMW ///M SUVs. We often forget that the Americans are an expert when it comes to high displacement engine which although may not produce very high power figures provide a great overall experience. One such big brawny American SUV is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT which gets a massive 6.4-litre V8 engine.
Unlike many American cars, the Grand Cherokee SRT isn’t just about the engine. The SUV is loaded with gizmos and technology and is properly fast. It also offers more value than its rivals since it is cheaper than them while offering an almost similar experience. On the outside, you get the signature no-nonsense Jeep look which looks very modern thanks to the usage of LEDs for all the lights. The alloy options are also very tasteful and would suit everyone’s taste.
Moving towards the interiors, it isn’t the typical minimalist interiors Jeeps are famous for. It gets the best of leather for the seats and dashboard and features are in abundance. A 19-speaker sound system is at the driver’s disposal should he decide to listen to anything other than the exhaust note. The center console houses a 8.4 inch touchscreen display which shows real-time performance figures and other details. There are plenty of customization options for the interiors too.
Coming to the heart of the matter, the 6.4-litre HEMI engine produces 475 BHP of power which propels the Grand Cherokee SRT from 0-100 km/hr in under 5 seconds. The power is transferred to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It comes with add-ons such as launch control, selec-track system, Brembo brakes and suspension upgrades. The powerful SUV might be launched in India at the Auto Expo 2016 along with other Jeep models. We are sure enthusiasts would be very curious now!
