The Jeep Compass Sport Plus gets subtle updates on the exterior and carries more hardware than the Compass Sport.
Jeep has added a new variant of the Compass in India. The Jeep Compass Sport Plus is now available for a price of Rs. 15.99 lakhs for the petrol-powered variant and Rs. 16.99 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom) for the diesel variant. It gets subtle changes to its exteriors and also gets more hardware than the Compass Sport trim.
The new Sport Plus trim gets updated with black roof-rails, 16-inch alloy wheels in silver finish and Sport Plus badging on the tailgate. It also gets rear parking sensors as standard. The rear windscreen and the window trims get wrapped in black coloured cladding.
Coming to the interiors, the Sport Plus edition of the Compass gets a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and dual-zone climate control along with steering mounted controls. Additionally, the climate control can also be adjusted via the touchscreen display. However, it misses out on the other bits like keyless entry, automated folding mirrors and the 17-inch alloy wheels which is seen in the higher-spec Longitude variant of the Compass. In the safety department, the Compass Sport Plus gets ABS, ESC, traction control and dual front airbags.
Under the hood, the Compass Sport Plus is powered by the same engine as in the entry-level model of the Compass. The 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine making 163 BHP and 250 Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre diesel-powered one makes 173 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Jeep Compass Sport Plus variant will compete against the Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson and the Tata Harrier and also the upcoming MG Hector which will be launched by May 2019.
