Jeep previews the next-generation Compass with updated design details
Jeep has offered a glimpse of its upcoming new generation Compass, revealing key design details in a fresh set of teaser images. The SUV, which is expected to make its official debut soon, is already reported to have entered production in Europe, according to the brand’s parent company, Stellantis.
The latest teasers offer a closer look at specific design elements, particularly at the front and rear of the SUV. At the front, the new Compass will retain Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille, though the design appears more upright and recessed compared to the outgoing model. A slim illuminated light strip is expected to run across the top of the grille, adding a modern touch to the iconic face. The headlamps themselves follow a rectangular design and are expected to house projector-style lighting elements.
Moving to the rear, the tail lamp design appears to incorporate a split light guide, with the central section likely housing either the reverse lamp or turn indicators. The ‘Performance LED’ branding is also visible within the cluster, highlighting Jeep’s focus on advanced lighting technology. The brand’s logo is also embedded within the rear lighting element.
The new generation Compass is built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, which will allow the SUV to be offered with a diverse range of powertrains. For Europe, the company has confirmed that the new Compass will be available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants, with four-wheel drive expected to be part of the package on certain versions. Stellantis has also promised that the SUV will deliver class-leading performance and cutting-edge technology, though more specifics are likely to be revealed closer to launch.
In addition to design previews, Jeep has hinted that production of the new Compass is already underway at the Stellantis manufacturing facility in Melfi, Italy. An image shared alongside the teasers shows a stripped-down monocoque frame on the assembly line, providing further evidence of the model’s readiness for the European market.
While the new-generation Compass is confirmed for Europe and North America, its prospects for the Indian market remain uncertain. Reports suggest that the new model’s positioning and costs might not align well with current market conditions in India, especially given the relatively modest sales performance of the current-generation Compass in the country.
Further details, including a comprehensive unveiling and market-specific timelines, are expected in the coming months.
