Jeep Compass Longitude (O) Petrol AT Launched At Rs. 18.90 Lakhs

Jeep Compass Petrol Review

The Jeep Compass petrol automatic is now available with the Longitude (O) variant positioned above the entry-level Sport trim, comes with more features.

The Jeep Compass petrol is now available in all five variants

Jeep has introduced a new mid-spec variant for the petrol powered Compass, the Longitude (O), priced at Rs. 18.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). While this variant was previously available with the diesel engine, the petrol Compass was only available in the base Sport, higher-spec Limited and Limited (O) and top-spec Limited Plus variants. The addition of the Longitude (O) variant means that the petrol version of the Jeep Compass is now available in all five variants.

Costing about Rs. 3.5 lakhs more than the base Compass Sport, the Longitude (O) variant comes with more features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, halogen projector headlights, front and rear fog lamps, power folding and adjustable wing mirrors, push-button start, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and an automatic climate control system. Compared to the higher Limited variant, the Compass Longitude (O) misses out on features such as LED taillights, leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, an optional dual-tone exterior finish and bi-xenon HID headlights.

Safety kit is the same as the lower variant, with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, traction control and four-wheel disc brakes coming as standard. This version misses out on side and curtain airbags which are offered only on the top-spec Limited Plus trim with the petrol option.

Mechanically, the Compass Longitude (O) is the same as the other petrol-powered variants with a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor producing 163 BHP and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (the base Sport variant has a 6-speed manual) that powers the front wheels. Jeep does not offer the Compass petrol with all-wheel drive.

The Longitude (O) variant adds to the car’s already strong value quotient. The Jeep Compass Longitude (O) will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and the upcoming MG Hector. Jeep will also introduce the ‘Trailhawk’ variant for the diesel Compass in a few months’ time which will debut the diesel-automatic combination for the Compass and more off-road oriented hardware.
