Jeep is gearing up to commence local production of the Compass SUV from mid-2017 at their facility in Pune. It will be the first Jeep vehicle to be made in India.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles officially revealed the Jeep Compass very recently and the vehicle is going to make its way to the Indian market in 2017. The Compass will be rolled out from Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility in Pune by mid-2017 and it will be priced attractively unlike the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler which got affected due to import duties.
The Jeep Compass will be manufactured locally and it is going to be aimed at a much larger set of audience. It will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe, etc. and it is likely to be launched within a price bracket of Rs. 25-30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Jeep Compass is a proper global SUV and hence it will be offered with as many as 17 powertrain options for different countries around the world. It shares many styling elements with the Grand Cherokee and boasts of rugged looks. The vehicle is also loaded with a good amount of features.
