Jeep Compass bookings cross 5000 units in just a month, diesel AT launch in 2018.
Jeep started taking bookings for its first India made SUV, the Compass last month. Within 3 days of Jeep starting to take bookings, more than 1000 Compass’ were booked. FCA officially launched the SUV yesterday with prices starting at Rs. 14.95 lakhs for the base petrol variant and Rs. 15.45 lakhs for the base diesel variant (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). Till date Jeep has received over 5000 bookings for the Compass.
After receiving 1000 bookings, Jeep India posted a tweet on Twitter too thanking the Indian folks for showing their interest in the Compass. There are dealers taking bookings for the Compass for as low as Rs. 50,000/-, however at some other dealerships, it is reported that the Compass can be booked for a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/-.
The Jeep Compass currently is available only with a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine that comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This 2.0-litre diesel unit produces 173 HP and 350 Nm of torque. Jeep will offer this engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox from January 2018. The 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol engine is available with both 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
The Jeep Compass is offered with a big list of equipment like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6 airbags, ABS, ISOFIX seat mounts, Hill Start Assist, Electric Parking Brake, frequency selective damping suspension, 4 driving modes and Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system, etc.
Deliveries for the diesel Compass have commenced while the petrol version will be sold from October. FCA has aggressively priced the Jeep Compass and it’s time Hyundai (Tucson) and Mahindra (XUV500) started worrying. With this pricing, it looks like Jeep has a winner in their hands.
