Suzuki has just announced the 2012 Alto Eco, which (hold your breathe) returns a mileage of 32 kmpl in the Japanese 10-15 test cycle. But what makes this Alto running on gasoline power return such an insane fuel efficiency figure, which is atleast 28% better then the most fuel efficienct petrol car in India. Well for starters, the Alto Eco uses a 660cc, 3-cylinder engine with start/stop technology. This motor produces 52 hp of power at 6000 RPM and 63 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. It is mated to a CVT gearbox, with power going at the front-wheels. Priced at $11540 for the entry level variant, this low displacement Alto is more expensive than a Maruti Swift VXi in India, so there goes!
