The Royal Enfield competitor has planned to unveil its latest lineup in India tomorrow.
Before the big unveiling of the Jawa 300 Classic scheduled for tomorrow, a pre-production unit has been spotted on test. It was seen rolling on the roads of Pune. The subsidiary of Mahindra is the only other competition to the Royal Enfield’s range of motorcycles in India.
Bookings for the motorcycles will open from November 15. It is expected that the company will unveil up to 4 new motorcycles. The speculated models to hit the markets are the Jawa Bobber and the Jawa Scrambler, apart from the Classic and the Cafe Racer. The Classic model that has been captured was also spotted during a commercial shoot.
The Jawa 300 Classic will be powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder engine which has been designed specifically to achieve a strong mid-range and a flat torque curve. The engine has a maximum capacity of dishing out 27 BHP of power along with 28 Nm of peak torque. This liquid-cooled, fuel injected motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Old-school telescopic forks at the front and inverted twin gas-charged shock absorber at the rear are part of the suspension hardware. This will help to ensure better control. A front disc and a rear drum setup with standard single-channel ABS will help the bike braking immensely.
A retro headlight dome, circular fuel tank, a comfortable single single-piece seat and large angular fenders characterise the outer looks of the 300 Classic. While currently available only in a dual-tone maroon and chrome colour scheme, bike fans are expecting a black model to be added to the options. To add the finishing touches, halogen lighting will be surrounding the body as in the conventional models.
The Jawa 300 Classic puts up a fierce competition with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. We can expect the price to be around Rs. 1.5 lakhs (ex-showroom)
