Sedan sales remained muted in January 2022 as well

Sales of compact sedan models in January 2022 stayed pretty much the same when compared to the sales recorded during the same period a year before.
While the whole segment registered sales of 26,647 units, the Maruti Dzire’s contribution to the number was 14,967 units.
Honda’s Amaze came second with 5395 unit sales, while the Hyundai Aura was third with 3333 units to its name. Tata’s Tigor found 2952 new homes during the same period.

The Honda City leads the C-segment sedan sales for January 2022 by finding 3950 new takers during the period assessed. The popular car saw its sales grow by 8 percent year-on-year (YoY).
Maruti’s Ciaz (1666 units) took the second spot twice in a row, relegating the Hyundai Verna (1622 units) to the third position, while the Volkswagen Vento rounded things up by finding 139 new homes last month.
In all, the cars in the segment registered combined sales of 7377 units, which is a 2 percent increase over last January’s sales number that stood at 7234 units.

With the Hyundai Elantra not finding any takers once again, the Skoda Octavia with 166 unit sales remained uncontested in the D-segment of the sedan market in India.

For the first time in many a month, the Toyota Camry (141 units) has beaten the Skoda Superb (122 unit sales). The facelifted hybrid seems to have attracted more buyers, which bodes well for its future in the market.
