The 2015 Jaguar XE sedan will come with a choice of 5 engine options including 2 petrol, 2 diesel motors from the new Ingenium family and the range topping V6 petrol from the F-Type.
After making a grandiose of an unveil last month, Jaguar has revealed the engine details and other specifications on the 2015 XE sedan, its least expensive model. The vehicle has made its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The XE has been described as the smallest, lightest and stiffest Jaguar and is also the most aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of 0.26. Based on the company’s modular vehicle architecture, the XE has been built out of an aluminium intensive monocoque chassis along with several of its major components being made out of aluminium offering higher power to weight ratio and fuel efficiency figures.
Revealing the engine lineup, Jaguar will be using the newly developed Ingenium family of engines which includes the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor that will be available in two states of tune namely 200 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, while the higher spec version makes 240 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. The specifications for the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine on the other hand were revealed early on and is also offered in two states of tune, 163 PS and 180 PS respectively. The lower spec version also happens to be the most frugal of the lot returning a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5 km/l and emitting just 99 g/km. All the engines will come paired to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The range topping version on the 2015 Jaguar XE ‘S’ will come with the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 340 PS of power, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The S variant see’s 0-100 km/hr come up in 4.9 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr. Jaguar will be offering the XE in five variants including Pure, R-Sport, S, Prestige and Portfolio and the sedan comes equipped with a range of driver assistance systems inclusive of All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), Traction Management system, stereo camera technology, Laser Head Up Display, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Closing Vehicle Sensing among many more.
