Jaguar I-Pace has been taken off the website along with the F-Type
Jaguar India has quietly delisted the I-Pace, its first and only electric vehicle in the country, from its official website. This move signals that the automaker is no longer accepting orders for the all-electric SUV. Additionally, the F-Type has also been removed from the website following the end of its global production last month. As a result, Jaguar’s current lineup in India is reduced to just one model – the F-Pace.
Launched in 2021, the Jaguar I-Pace entered the Indian market as the second luxury electric SUV in the Rs. 1 crore price bracket. It was positioned to compete with the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC SUV. Despite its early promise and striking design, the I-Pace struggled to maintain momentum in a rapidly evolving segment. Unlike its competitors, which received periodic updates, the I-Pace saw no significant changes during its three-year stint in India.
The I-Pace featured a 90kWh battery pack and dual electric motors producing 400 HP and 696 Nm of torque. In real-world tests combining city and highway driving, it achieved an estimated range of about 410 km. However, sales figures tell a different story. In FY2024, Jaguar sold just 31 units of the I-Pace, a stark contrast to the BMW iX’s 738 units sold in the same period.
The F-Type, which had been a staple in Jaguar’s lineup since its launch in India in July 2013, has also been delisted. Initially available in a convertible form with V6 and V8 engines, the F-Type saw the addition of a coupe version a year later and a more affordable 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine in 2018. The model underwent a mid-cycle facelift in 2020 before its global production ceased in June 2023.
Jaguar is poised to embark on a new chapter starting in 2025 with the introduction of a series of all-electric vehicles. The first of these will be a four-seat GT car, anticipated to rival the Porsche Taycan. This will be followed by a luxury SUV, akin to the Bentley Bentayga and a large luxury sedan. These upcoming models will be built on Jaguar’s new, bespoke JEA platform, marking a significant departure from its current lineup.
