Terry Grant and the Jaguar F-Pace endured forces of 6.5 Gs on the 19.08-metre tall loop as the F-Type’s sports car derived chassis managed to keep the SUV in place throughout the stunt.
After a patient wait of two years, Jaguar has finally revealed the production version of the new F-Pace Sports Utility Vehicle with the ‘sports’ quotient at the optimum. Jaguar’s latest and very good looking addition to its lineup also made quite a spectacle as it set a new Guinness world record by performing the largest 360-degree loop, ahead of its official unveil at the Frankfurt Motor Show. An unlikely image one would fathom, the British automaker managed to achieve the same gloriously as it also marked celebrations for Jaguar’s 80th birthday.
The loop-the-loop stunt was performed by British stunt driver Terry Grant as he drove the specially prepped Jaguar F-Pace on the 19.08-metre tall loop. Having derived its underpinnings from the F-Type, Terry was able to withstand 6.5 G-Force, which is greater than the forces experienced by space shuttle pilots as it sped through the loop. The pro stunt driver had to undertake intense physical and dietary training for two months. A team of experts carefully planned every aspect including the precise physics, angles, speeds and dimensions to get this right.
The first-of-its-kind stunt also marks the opening of order books for the new Jaguar F-Pace in the UK. Further, the automaker has announced the ‘First Edition’ line of the SUV, celebrating the launch of the vehicle and will have production strictly limited to 2000 units. The first edition can be distinguished by the exclusive Caesium Blue and Halcyon Gold colour options (showcased on the C-X17 concept) and the optional Rhodium Silver and Ultimate Black, while power comes from a petrol and diesel V6 engine options producing 380 PS and 300 PS respectively.
Other features include 22-inch Double Helix 15-spoke wheels, Adaptive Dynamics, full-LED lights, gloss black fender vents and a sliding panoramic roof. The cabin is finished with Windsor soft-grain leather seats in Light Oyster with influences from the concept, in addition to 10-colour ambient lighting, InControl Touch Pro infotainment system and a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.
