Japanese automaker Isuzu has revealed the D-Max facelift and it comes with updated looks and a new engine. The vehicle will be launched in Thailand soon.
The Isuzu D-Max is a pick-up truck that is very popular in overseas markets. The vehicle is available in India and it has been gaining popularity only since the past few months. The D-Max is available for buyers only as a commercial vehicle and this is one of the reasons for the vehicle’s low sales. Isuzu is now coming up with a facelift of the D-Max and the updated pick-up truck has been revealed.
The Isuzu D-Max has always had very beefy styling characteristics and the updated model takes things to another level. The front fascia has been given a major tweak in design and the new face looks very masculine and imposing. The grille with its double slats might look a bit quirky but overall Isuzu has nailed it with the D-Max facelift. The side profile remains mostly the same and the rear also carries the typical styling of a pick-up truck.
The Isuzu D-Max comes with features like LED lights, dual front airbags, shark fin antenna, new TFT instrument cluster screen and a Connect World infotainment system. On the mechanical front, the vehicle is now powered by a 1.9-litre Ddi Blue Power diesel engine that churns out 147 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque. This engine replaces the 2.5-litre diesel engine found on the current D-Max. It is claimed that the new engine is 10% more powerful, 9% torquier and 20% lighter in weight.
The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic gearbox might also be offered. The Isuzu D-Max will be launched in Thai markets very soon and we can expect an Indian debut at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. Now only if Isuzu manages to market the vehicle as a private car instead of a commercial vehicle, sales for the D-Max could have a very significant rise in India.
