Isuzu expands commercial pickup truck lineup in India with the Cab Chassis variant
Isuzu has launched a new variant of its popular D-Max pickup truck in India, priced at Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai). The latest addition, the ‘1.7 Cab Chassis Standard’ variant, is designed to cater specifically to businesses in sectors like perishables, FMCG, food and catering, as well as last-mile delivery services.
Key Features and Specifications
The D-Max Cab Chassis variant allows businesses the flexibility to customise and construct load bodies according to their operational needs. Under the hood, it features a 2.5-litre 4JA1 diesel engine, producing 78 BHP at 3800 RPM and 176 Nm of torque between 1500 to 2400 RPM. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Focus on Safety and Practicality
Isuzu has equipped the vehicle with a range of functional and safety features aimed at enhancing both user experience and reliability. These include height-adjustable seat belts, a multi-information display with a gearshift indicator and a collapsible steering column. Additionally, underbody steel protection for the drivetrain adds a layer of durability, particularly in rough conditions.
A notable safety feature is the Brake Override System, which ensures that the engine power is cut off in the event of panic braking, offering an extra layer of security for drivers.
Target Market and Utility
The new variant is positioned as an ideal solution for industries that require transportation of goods over shorter distances, particularly where cargo customisation is important. Its versatile chassis makes it a suitable choice for businesses dealing with perishables, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and food services, providing flexibility to construct a load body that fits specific business needs.
The pricing of the Isuzu D-Max Cab Chassis Standard variant, set at just below Rs. 10 lakhs, makes it an appealing option for small and medium-sized businesses looking for reliable and customisable transportation solutions.
