Hyundai has released a series of teasers online

Hyundai teases Ioniq 5 self driving car, Indian launch of regular model this year

Hyundai’s popular electric SUV worldwide, Ioniq 5, will soon become a self driving car as the Korean manufacturer has revealed that it’s currently working on the project in collaboration with Motional, the company that specialises in driverless technology.

At the end of the project, the Ioniq 5 will feature level 4 autonomous driving prowess. Named Ioniq 5 Robotaxi, the project was first showcased by Hyundai at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) Mobility show in Germany last year.

Now, it seems, the work has neared its final phases as the brand has flung a set of teasers to showcase the car’s capability. The manufacturer says its upcoming Ioniq 5 Robotaxi is a mobility solution with humanity inside and not just without a human driver. This narrative is also depicted in the teasers.

The Ioniq 5 is built on Hyundai’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and also the first model to sport it. The brand claims it enables faster charging, increased driving range, more interior space, and better handling.

On the inside , the Ioniq sports unique rear seats that can power-slide backwards and forwards up to 135 mm. The front seats can recline fully as well.
