Hyundai has showcased its new crossover concept Intrado at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The concept version is similar to the teaser pictures which were released earlier. This new crossover codenamed HED-9 has been designed by Hyundai’s new operational Research and Development centre in Russelsheim, Germany. The name Intrado was inspired from the underside of an aircraft’s wing and hence we can expect this vehicle to have responsive and agile driving dynamics. The Intrado has an imposing stance and we hope only subtle changes will be made on the design-front on the production version.
The Hyundai Intrado will be the second vehicle from the Korean company to feature its new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language after the Hyundai Genesis which was unveiled last year. The Intrado will feature reduction in its funkiness quotient which was one of the USPs of the current fluidic design language. The design is well-proportioned with sharp lines running across the sides which in-turn enhances the SUV characteristics of the vehicle. This premium crossover will be powered by Hyundai’s next generation fuel cell powertrain which makes use of a specially designed 36 kW lithium-ion battery which has a range of 600 kms.
The Hyundai Intrado will be built on a super lightweight carbon frame structure which will be made from a mixture of advanced materials and will also feature body panels made of advanced super lightweight steel which enhances crash performance. The Korean automaker has also developed a revolutionary technique to join various modules of the components of a car and believes that this technology has the potential to change the construction methodology of the vehicles. The Intrado has an interior that is focused on usability and adaptability with the usage of contrasting colour schemes. The design points to the future styling of Hyundai vehicles.
