The Chieftain Elite is a limited production model that has a very commanding presence and a design that seeks attention.
Indian Motorcycles have just launched its Chieftain Elite motorcycle in India. It is not meant for the average biker and has been made for, just like its name suggests, the Elites. The cruiser is priced at Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom) and comes with elegant details.
The Indian Chieftain Elite is powered by a mammoth, 1811cc, V-twin, thunder stroke engine that can pull the 388 kg (wet) bike with 151 Nm of peak torque which is produced at an early 3000 RPM. A dual-exhaust system with crossover pipes give the bike excellent sound. The pathfinder LED headlights illuminate the road better than some cars.
Since the Indian Chieftain Elite is a limited edition bike, it also gets exclusive elements to look the part. The colour-scheme on the bike is hand-painted in 25 hours which clearly reflects in the detailing. The black hills silver paint takes inspiration from the silver mines of the Black Hills in South Dakota. The colour is painted with high flakes.
There is a 200-watt audio system for the audiophile inside you. The windshield can be adjusted using a push button and the seats are wrapped in premium leather. The seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system has an Indian Ride Command system and Bluetooth connectivity. The 7-inch screen is riding-gloves friendly. Yes, we are still talking about the Indian Chieftain Elite motorcycle here and not a car.
Safety features on the Indian Chieftain Elite include cruise control, ABS, security system and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The rear saddlebags are remote-controlled via the bike’s key fob and have ample room to store your luggage for those long distance rides.
At a price tag of Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom), the bike is not exactly affordable. The exclusivity is further aggravated by the fact that only 350 units of the motorcycle will go on sale around the world. The company has a tie-up with the HDFC bank for financing your bikes, but if you aren’t really into motorcycles, then better get an Audi instead.
