Skoda has revealed that its India-made compact SUV will be called the Kushaq, which derives its roots from the Sanskrit word Kushak meaning king.
To be the first vehicle manufactured based on the localised Modulare Querbaukasten (MQB) A0 IN platform, the car follows the nomenclature of other Skoda SUVs such as the Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq.
Designed and developed under the firm’s “India 2.0” project, the Skoda Kushaq, says Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, Zac Hollis, will offer a combination of “superior build quality, exemplary value proposition, enhanced safety and unmatched performance”.
The carmaker claims the compact SUV will set the benchmark in its class for functionality, practicality and other attributes as well.
Based on the firm’s Vision IN concept, the Kushaq, has already been spotted testing numerous times on Indian roads.
It will come with elements one would expect on the Czech brand’s cars like the multi-slat grille, sleek lighting units, and a design that would not go over the top, while inside, the car will look modern and built to last.
Due to be launched this summer, the Skoda Kushaq will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Maruti S-Cross.
