India Bound UM Renegade Sport S Unveiled At 2015 EICMA

The UM Renegade Sport S draws power from a 276cc single-cylinder motor and will be launched in India at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The urban looking Renegade Sport S is high on style

The UM Renegade Sport S was officially unveiled at the ongoing 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan which will be heading to India in the near future. The newest offering to come from the American manufacturer, the Renegade Sport S shares a striking resemblance to another entry-level premium American cruiser and gets complete matte black styling with contrast finished headlight cowl. The layman could even mistake the Renegade for the Harley-Davidson Street 750 if seen from a distance.

Under the belly, the UM Renegade Sport S draws power from a 279cc single-cylinder, water-cooled, fuel-injected motor tuned to produce 26.6 PS at 8600 RPM and 22.76 Nm of torque at 6300 RPM, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike comes with 41 mm telescopic front forks from Gabriel and a conventional twin shock setup at the rear, while braking performance comes from Endurance with a single disc at the front and a drum setup at the rear.

The UM Renegade Sport S rides on TVS sourced 17-inch 110 section tyre up front and a 15-inch 140 section unit at the back. ABS has been given a miss completely. The cruiser will be one of the two models from UM to make its debut in India at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo next February, wherein the automaker will also commence accepting bookings for its new range. At present, the company is busy establishing dealerships across the country.

UM Motorcycles first made its Indian debut at the 2014 Auto Expo and has tied up with domestic manufacturer Lohia Auto which will be producing the motorcycles at its facility. A complete manufacturing facility is also expected to be constructed in the future. UM was originally scheduled to put its products on sale earlier this year but had to push the launch to next year. When launched, the Renegade Sport S will be locking horns with the Bajaj Avenger and Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the segment.
