India Bound Skoda Kodiaq Leaked Ahead Of 1st September Debut

The Skoda Kodiaq will be unveiled in production guise on 1st September 2016 but has been leaked, revealing the design of the 4.7-metre SUV.

The Skoda Kodiaq looks quite big from the side profile

The Skoda Kodiaq has been in the news for more reasons than one. It was first previewed as the VisionS Concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and within no time, Skoda is all set to unveil the production model of its first ever SUV. The Skoda Kodiaq does look impressive and has clean lines, something which Czech designers are good at.

The Skoda Kodiaq isn’t very different from the VisionS Concept which is a good thing as the company has done the minimum bit of converting the vehicle from concept to production. At 4.7-metres in length, the Kodiaq has good length making it bigger than the Volkswagen Tiguan with which it shares its platform.

Skoda has confirmed its plans to launch the Kodiaq in India next year. Other than working on service, Skoda India will launch a slew of new models next year with the Kodiaq being the most significant. Underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s flexible MQB platform, the Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be generous on space while offering very good driving dynamics by SUV standards.

The Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with the Indian market getting the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI units, paired to either 6-speed manual or DSG automatic transmissions. Power is channeled to all wheels via the AWD system.

The SUV will be loaded with an array of features such as Tow Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Area View cameras, Front Assist, Apple CarPlay, Andriod Auto and the standard features seen on the Octavia. When launched, the Skoda Kodiaq will rival the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V in the Indian market. Expect prices to start upwards of Rs. 30 lakhs.
