Hyundai is all set to launch the ix25 in India to compete with the Renault Duster while there are no plans to launch a sub 4-metre SUV, they have positioned the i20 Active in that segment.
The Indian audience is eagerly waiting for the new compact SUV from Hyundai’s stable, the ix25, which is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2015. While the Korean carmaker is present in most of the lucrative segments in India, the most anticipated one is the compact SUV space, which is gaining tremendous popularity nowadays in our country. It will be interesting to see the aggressive competition between the Renault Duster and ix25. No, the ix25 won’t compete directly with the Ford EcoSport because it isn’t a sub 4-metre SUV.
Hyundai has no plans to launch a sub 4-metre SUV because they have recently launched the i20 Active to take care of that space. We are aware about the fact that all Hyundai cars come with great build quality and are loaded with equipment, being easy on the pocket to run. Same will be the case with the Hyundai ix25 SUV. However, the pricing of the new SUV will play a major role for its success in the market and if Hyundai hits the right spot, the ix25 will trump ahead of the segment within no time.
There are a few advantageous factors for the ix25 such as the strong brand name, large reliable network and the fact that Maruti’s new sub 4-metre SUV is still sometime away. So playing the volumes game won’t be much of a task for Hyundai but still a slight uphill battle to conquer the segment currently being led by the Renault Duster. Our reader Lakshman recently spotted a camouflaged test mule of the ix25 showing good road presence. Hyundai is also considering a compact MPV (codenamed IP) that will compete with the Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga.
