Hyundai has finally lifted the covers off the new Venue compact SUV.
The 2019 Hyundai Venue has been officially unveiled in India along with making its global debut. The highly-anticipated compact SUV will be launched in the country in May 2019 and will be slotted between the i20 Active and Creta.
The vehicle features Hyundai’s BlueLink connectivity solution. The BlueLink has 33 integrated features out of which 10 are developed specifically for India. The Hyundai Venue is offered with a built-in Vodafone Idea eSIM for network connectivity. It gets a dedicated smartphone application to allow interaction with the vehicle. The services are grouped into seven categories viz. Safety, Security, Remote, Vehicle Relation Management, Location Based Services, Alert Services and Voice Recognition services. The users can register themselves along with emergency contacts and make use of the application to control features and track the vehicle. The BlueLink also offers real-time traffic updates and navigation along with maps. Hyundai is offering a three-year complementary BlueLink subscription after which, the user can renew again.
On the outside, the Hyundai Venue gets split projector headlamps and an LED DRL setup. The grille is finished with chrome accents. The outside door handles are finished in chrome along with the diamond cut alloy wheels. The antenna is a shark fin type, foglamps are projectors and the vehicle gets LED tail lights. The vehicle gets leather interior upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It gets automatic climate control, chrome accented AC vents, electric sunroof, wireless phone charging, cooled glovebox, Arkamys sound, air purifier and cruise control. Moreover, the Korean car giant is providing three years of warranty (unlimited kilometres) and three-year roadside assistance (RSA).
The Hyundai Venue will be powered by a new 1.0-litre turbo GDI Kappa petrol engine which makes 120 PS of power and 171 Nm of torque, a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine making 83 PS and 115 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre diesel engine making 90 PS power and 220 Nm of torque. The compact 1.0-litre petrol engine has its exhaust manifold integrated with its cylinder head which allows greater fuel efficiency.
The turbo petrol engine will be offered with a new 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and a 6-speed MT. The 1.2-litre petrol engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual and the 1.4-litre diesel engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new 7-speed DCT is claimed to be highly efficient and has minimum torque transfer interruption while shifting. It gets high strength gears as well as better clutch friction materials.
The body structure of the Hyundai Venue is primarily 69 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and the remaining is High Strength Steel (HSS). It indicates the strong and rugged built of the vehicle. The vehicle measures 3995 mm in length and has a width and height of 1770 mm and 1590 mm respectively. The wheelbase of the Venue stands at 2500 mm. Safety features include ABS, 6 airbags, ESP along with Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Assist Control, Brake Assist System and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
