Hyundai is readying a new crossover which will give competition to the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor. This new vehicle will be launched in 2026 and is codenamed Bc4i. It will be based on the i20’s platform and will be similar to the Bayon which is sold overseas.
Earlier, Hyundai had the i20 Active which was a crossover based on the Elite i20 but with the third gen i20, Hyundai didn’t launch a crossover version. Looking at the success of the Fronx, the brand is readying this new car which will share a lot of components with the i20.
As far as product positioning goes, the crossover will sit alongside the Venue, and below the Creta. The engine options will also be shared with the Venue. Hyundai is also working on the second generation Venue which should hit the markets next year as the first gen was launched way back in 2019.
The new crossover is likely to be produced at Sriperumbudur itself while the new Venue will be produced at the company’s newly acquired Talegaon plant.
