Hyundai, the second largest carmaker in India has launched the Santro Xing Celebration Edition on the occasion of completing Hyundai’s 15 years of presence in the Indian car market. Santro was the first car to be introduced in Hyundai’s Indian portfolio and it is still one of the highest selling cars in India. The Santro Xing now gets some added features in the celebration edition model to boost up sales. The special edition Santro Xing is only available in the GL Plus trim with an option of LPG or CNG, priced at Rs. 3.81 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
On the exteriors of the Santro Xing Celebration Edition, you get red body graphics, rear parking sensors with LED display inside the cabin along with rear chrome garnish above the number plate. On the inside, Hyundai is offering a Blaupunkt stereo system, new floor mats and a manual rear sun blind. With the celebration edition, Hyundai is offering a limited colour option including white, silver and mushroom. These are some basic features which the automaker offers in their entry level cars to push their sales a bit.
Currently, the Korean automaker’s Indian portfolio consists of four hatchbacks that cannibalise each other to some extent and with the introduction of the Hyundai Grand i10 on 3rd September, customers will have a choice of five hatchbacks. Hyundai is expected to discontinue the Santro Xing eventually in India in order to give some breathing space to the new range of hatchbacks. Next year we shall see the launch of next generation i20 and a refreshed avatar of the Eon with cosmetic and mechanical changes.
