Hyundai has revealed a design render of the upcoming Santro which has been codenamed the AH2.
It is a confirmed news that Hyundai will introduce the all-new Santro (codenamed the AH2) by this festive season. While the hatchback has been spied before with a camouflage, this is the first time we’re getting to see its design render which has been released by Hyundai. The AH2 will be an affordable family car that will be positioned below the Hyundai Grand i10.
Although the design render has been revealed, the car has been seen in better skin in the earlier spotted images. The Hyundai AH2 gets large headlights and there are fog lamps placed just under them. The front fascia is likely to be inspired from the Kia Picanto but the car will be smaller in size. On the side, the renders show sharply designed window lines.
On the interior front, the car will come with a 3-spoke steering wheel with audio controls. The instrument cluster too gets a different design. It is likely that the Santro will get a dual-tone black and beige dashboard. The dash-mounted gear lever from the Hyundai Grand i10 is likely to be carried over to the Santro.
The Hyundai Santro is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, petrol engine that will have an option to be paired with a manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT). It will also happen to be the first car from Hyundai to come with an AMT that will aid in city driving. The vehicle will rival the Datsun redi-GO, Maruti Wagon R and Renault Kwid when launched.
The South Korean manufacturer has even readied an aggressive launch strategy which will see eight new products coming to the Indian market by 2020. These will include an electric SUV (Kona) and the sub 4-metre compact SUV known as the QXI.
