Hyundai has launched a special edition version of the i10 city car called the ‘i10 Sport’ (Grand i10 in India) in Germany with exterior modifications lending a sporty look to the hatchback. Features on the limited edition i10 Sport include new sharpened exterior styling with 17-inch 8-spoke alloy wheels, revised side skirts; LED daytime running lights and red and black race-inspired graphics from the front bumper to the rear window. The hatchback also gets its suspension lowered by 20 mm, adding to the sporty theme of the special edition variant.
On the inside, the Hyundai i10 Sport gets full music connectivity and a red sporting interior with partial leather seats. No other equipment has been added though. The special edition model gets no changes under the hood as well and is powered by the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 87 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque. The i10 can do 0-100 km/hr in 12.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 175 km/hr. In terms of fuel efficiency, the i10 returns an impressive mileage of 20.4 km/l on the EU drive cycle.
The changes on the i10 Sport are purely aesthetic and certainly does a good job in making the hatchback look more appealing. Competing against the Volkswagen Up!, the i10 Sport edition is priced at 13,990 Euros (Rs. 11.14 lakhs) and turns out to be a value for money package in the segment. Completing almost a year after launch, the Grand i10 has proved to be consistent seller for Hyundai in India. For now, the Sport edition variant is limited to Germany, but could make a very good anniversary edition, if launched in India. Hope you are listening Hyundai.
