Hyundai has finally launched the Fluidic i20 in India, priced between Rs. 4.73 – Rs. 7.67 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1.4-litre petrol engine is mated to a automatic gearbox and produces 100 PS of power and 13.9 KGm of torque. The cosmetic changes to the i-gen i20’s exteriors include a new front grille, turn indicators on outside mirrors, chrome outside door handles, 8-spoke alloy wheels (on select variants) and a rear spoiler with integrated stop lamp. Hyundai has not released any information on the mechanical changes like the reduction in NVH levels or the removal of rattles. The i-gen i20 will be available at Hyundai dealers immediately and the company has hiked prices between Rs. 6000 – 28000/- depending on the variants with the lower variants getting a lesser price hike, while the top end variants see a greater price hike. The reason for this is that Hyundai has offered more equipment on the top-end variants. With this upgrade the Hyundai i20 gets alot of features unheard off in the hatchback segment. This should force the competition (read Volkswagen Polo) to offer more features. The new i20 will then help in hatchbacks become more feature rich, with most of the equipments only offered in cars double the price of the new i20.
