We have already seen a number of spy pictures of the new Hyundai ix25 undergoing testing. This vehicle will mark Hyundai’s entry into the compact SUV segment. The Hyundai ix25 is set to compete with the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster. The ix25 measures 4.25-metres in length but if Hyundai manages to keep the Indian version under 4-metres, then we can expect it to be priced very aggressively since compact vehicles also get tax benefits from the government. Hyundai is going to officially unveil the vehicle at the Beijing Auto Show and a large advertising banner of the SUV has already been spotted.
The Hyundai ix25 looks like a smaller Santa Fe since the design is inspired from its elder sibling to a great extent. The front fascia looks very good and the silver inserts in the front bumper lend some amount of sportiness to the vehicle. The fog lamp holders also have a distinct shape. The front grille along with the bumper lend a feel of ruggedness to the ix25. Hyundai has blackened the A pillar and the side profile also looks quite good owing to the attractive alloy wheels. There is black body-cladding running through the length of the vehicle with silver side skirts. The headlights seem to be installed with projectors and DRLs.
The Hyundai ix25 shares its platform with the i20. Powering the SUV will the the 1.4-litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.4-litre CRDI diesel engine. There can also be a possibility of the company providing the powerful 1.6-litre oil-burner from the Verna as an option on the top variants of the ix25. The vehicle will also be loaded with airbags, ABS, ESP, keyless start-stop system, automatic climate control and all the other features that you can expect from a vehicle in this segment. Knowing Hyundai, we can be sure that quality of parts and the fit and finish will be top-class. Hyundai will launch the ix25 only next year.
