Hyundai India Confirms MPV Launch In 2016

Hyundai is gearing up to launch its new MPV, based on the Hexa Space in 2016 and it will compete directly with the Toyota Innova.

The Hexa Space MPV follows Hyundai’s fluidic styling theme

Hyundai has been selling vehicles across different segments in the Indian market. The company launched its premium SUV, the Santa Fe earlier this year and soon the ix25 compact SUV will be launched. The Korean auto giant is now looking to launch a new MPV in 2016 and it will be competing directly with the Toyota Innova. Hyundai had showcased the Hexa Space MPV concept at the 2012 Auto Expo and it is very likely that the new MPV will be based on this vehicle. Just like other Hyundai products, the Hexa Space too follows the fluidic design philosophy.

The exteriors of the Hyundai Hexa Space look stunning. The headlights look beautiful but it is highly likely that Hyundai will replace them with regular halogens or projectors in the actual production version of the vehicle. The side profile looks good too and since all the pillars have been blackened out, the Hexa Space gets a floating roof effect. The rear doors have a sliding function and the interiors look quite futuristic. The rear of the Hexa Space looks a bit quirky thanks to the styling of the tail lamps.

The concept that was displayed in 2012 was powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Kappa GDI engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Just like all Hyundais, the Hexa Space too will be loaded with features to the brim and the company will price it quite aggressively. Since we already know that the Toyota Innova is very over-priced and doesn’t offer much apart from comfort and reliability, it may need to run for cover once Hyundai launches its MPV since Hyundai too has a great service network across the country.
