Hyundai has unveiled the all-new i20 N that has been inspired by the i20 WRC rally car. The model, says its maker, delivers an all-around sporty experience with looks to match.
Styling of the i20 N is powerful and stays true to its high-performance theme. The front is dominated by the large air intake, wide radiator grille, LED headlamps and lip spoiler.
At the sides, there are bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels and the stance is much better since the car sits 10 mm lower to the ground. While at the rear, there are smoked rear tail lights, roof spoiler, diffuser-like element, a triangular fog light and a single exhaust outlet.
There are six exterior colours including the N signature Performance Blue livery, and an optional Phantom Black roof for a two-tone style, on offer and in addition, Tomato Red accents on the front splitter, side skirts and the rear bumper.
Inside, the all-new i20 N has N-specific features like sport seats, N steering wheel, N gear knob and N metal pedals. The black interior features Performance Blue accents throughout and black head lining.
As an option, a 10.25-inch LCD touchscreen navigation system with dedicated N content, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be had with the car. It is also available with the latest version of Bluelink connected car services.
Further, the digital cluster includes features such as the variable LED red zone, which varies according to engine oil temperature, and a shift-timing indicator.
The all-new Hyundai i20 N is powered by a 1.6-litre T-GDi engine that puts out 204 PS of max power and 275 peak torque. It has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a mechanical LSD.
Weighing in at 1190 kg, the i20 N can do the 0‑100 km/hr sprint in just 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 km/hr.
It also has Launch Control, Rev Matching function (button on the steering wheel), a brake pad wear indicator (PWI), and Performance Driving Data System.
Further, there are five distinct drive modes, namely – Normal, Eco, Sport, N and N Custom. The N Custom mode has sub-modes such as Normal, Eco, Sport and Sport+. Moreover, drivers have dedicated N keys on the steering wheel to preset mappings to their needs.
Hyundai’s engineers state they have retuned, refined and reinforced the regular i20’s chassis, suspension, brakes and steering in order to deliver more agile ride and handling on the N.
Furthermore, the car comes with a whole host of safety features including the Hyundai SmartSense Advanced Drivers Assistance System. The all-new Hyundai i20 N will be available across Europe from spring 2021.
