The Hyundai i20 Active will be launched in March 2015 in the country and comes with additional body cladding, higher ground clearance and new features on offer.
Ahead of the launch scheduled in March this year, Hyundai India has officially revealed the ‘i20 Active’ hatchback based crossover in its rendering. Set to make its global debut in the Indian market (much like the hatchback), the automaker states that the new i20 Active comes from the same design centre in Russelsheim, Germany adopting the Fluidic Design Sculpture 2.0 language with a sporty, sharp and bold look.
Based on the Elite i20, the Hyundai i20 Active comes with a with the same front fascia but has been updated with a new front and rear bumper with black body cladding extending to the sides, circular fog lights, brushed silver skid plates and the very prominent round reflectors on the rear bumper. The ground clearance has been significantly raised and the crossover comes kitted up with projector lights, LED DRLs, roof rails, new alloy wheels and much more.
In terms of engines, the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel units will be carried over on the Hyundai i20 Active in the same state of tune as the hatchback. The i20 Active is targeted at those individuals who are looking to have some weekend fun without having to live with a full-sized SUV on a day-to-day basis. The i20 Active already has a lot of competition in the segment in the form of the Fiat Avventura, Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and even the Ford EcoSport. Prices will be revealed next month.
