Hyundai launched the Grand i10 hatchback earlier this year in the Indian market and the response has been tremendous ever since. The company has sold 32,784 units of the car in a span of just four months between August and November this year. The good sales of the car can be attributed to the value for money package. Hyundai will capitalise on this demand by launching the compact sedan version of the Grand i10. The sub 4-metre sedan will be officially unveiled on 4th February and will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo.
The Hyundai Grand i10 compact sedan has been spied on various occasions and it has recently been spotted testing near Chennai which is where the company’s production facility is located. The spy pictures this time around seem to indicate the fact that an automatic version of the vehicle is also on the cards. AUTO badging can be noticed on the side fender of the car. Currently, the compact sedan segment is completely dominated by the Maruti Suzuki DZire and the Honda Amaze, although there aren’t many sub 4-metre saloons on sale in our country.
The Hyundai Grand i10 sedan featuring the Fluidic design is built on the extended BA platform. The car will come with a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine whereas either the 3-cylinder 1.1-litre engine or the 1.4-litre CRDi engine will be the diesel motor of choice. Most of components present on the existing Hyundai Grand i10 hatchback will feature on the sedan version as a cost saving measure. This car will be a worthy rival to its segment competitors and Hyundai will probably price this car just Rs. 60-80,000/- above the hatchback.
