The new engine is the same turbo-petrol unit as the new Aura.
Hyundai India has introduced the Grand i10 Nios with a 1-litre turbo petrol engine at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new engine is the same turbo-petrol unit as the new Aura that delivers 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The power output of the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is a definite step-up from the standard car’s 83 PS, 1.2-litre petrol engine and helps it pit better with the likes of the 83 PS Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo that comes with a 96 PS engine.
Along with the ‘Turbo’ badging on the grille and boot lid, the Grand i10 Nios turbo also gets a blacked-out grille and a black roof to differentiate it from the standard versions. An all-black interior theme with sporty contrast red stitching adds sportiness to the cabin. The Nios turbo-petrol will likely be offered in one variant based on the Sportz trim.
