Hyundai has added CNG powertrain option to the Grand i10 NIOS lineup.
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS now offers four engine options including 1.2-litre diesel, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre petrol+CNG.
The CNG engine option is available in two variants of the Grand i10 NIOS with a starting price of Rs. 6.62 lakhs (ex-showroom).
It is a bi-fuel version based on the 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT BS6 petrol engine. While running on CNG, the engine produces 69 PS at 6000 RPM and 95.12 Nm of torque at 40000 RPM.
Running on petrol, this engine produces more output of 83 PS at 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The CNG version is available only in 5-speed manual transmission, there is no AMT on offer with CNG.
The Grand i10 NIOS CNG comes with 37-litre petrol tank capacity and 60-litre (water equivalent) CNG tank capacity. The official fuel efficiency figures haven’t been revealed yet.
The NIOS CNG is based on the Magna and Sportz trims so it gets the same features as the petrol counterparts but the CNG version misses out on 5.3-inch digital speedometer with MID, it comes with the regular analogue unit.
