Hyundai is planning to equip the i20, i20 Active and the Verna with a touchscreen infotainment system much like what its competitors also offer in the respective segments.
Hyundai is one automotive manufacturer that has changed its fortunes in India relatively fast as compared to others. From offering conservative models a few years back, the company has gone on to revolutionize every car segment that it has been a part of thanks to an amazing design philosophy, good quality materials and most importantly, a feature laden cabin. Previous iteration of the Verna went on to become a segment leader, with the i20 doing the same in its segment as well. This has been the case with almost all of its models and the Korean car maker has now set its sights on conquering the Indian car market once and for all.
Just sometime back, Hyundai removed a few features including a 12V power outlet from the top-end Asta trim and leather wrapping from the steering wheel and gear knob from the mid-variants of its best-selling ELite i20 premium hatchback. Well, it seems that the company made the aforementioned deletions to make way for something better because Hyundai had also revealed that they will be equipping the i20 with a touchscreen unit in the Asta trim. However, it seems like the same addition will also be carried out for the i20 Active and the Verna as well.
With the competition including the likes of the Honda Jazz for the i20 and the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz for the Verna all featuring a touchscreen unit, Hyundai didn’t want to get left behind at their own game and will therefore be giving its vehicles a touchscreen infotainment system very soon. The i20 and i20 Active will get the system by the end of this month, while the Verna will get the same around the festival of Diwali. The move is likely to popularise the vehicles more, but the actual effect can only be confirmed till the feature additions have been made.
