Hyundai Exter Spotted Testing In Heavy Snow

Hyundai Exter spotted testing in extreme weather conditions

Hyundai revealed the name Exter officially recently for their upcoming compact SUV and it has been spotted testing overseas. The Tata Punch rival has been spotted testing under heavy camouflage in the snow clad weather of Sweden.

The compact SUV codenamed Hyundai Ai3 is being developed for the emerging markets and India will be the production hub of the car.

When you look at the overall design and some styling elements of the A and B-pillar, it looks like a smaller version of the Hyundai Creta. However, it will be positioned under the Venue and is based on the Grand i10 Nios K1 platform.

While the mini SUV won’t come with all-wheel drive of course, the South Korean carmaker will be marketing it as a soft roader just like how Tata did initially with the Punch. It will have a high ground clearance and different traction control modes, so it is a possibility that it might come with an off-road mode.

It will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Hyundai might also consider offering the 1.0-litre turbo petrol with the Exter.

The production is expected to commence from July this year and deliveries are likely to start before the festive season begins.

From the side profile it looks tall and long but it will be under 4 metres in length
