The wraps over the anticipated Alto killer which is the new Korean kid on the block the Eon are removed and the car is surely looking stunning. Speaking the Fluidic so fluently this Korean kid is surely going to give the Japanese kid a run for its money and take up the mass market by storm. Now that we have the pictures of the Eon lets talk about it specifications. The Eon comes with a three cylinder 814cc engine similar to what we see on the Santro and i10 which is equipped with the four cylinders unlike three seen on the Eon. The small engine produces 56PS of power 76.5 Nm of torque. In the engine department the Eon is much superior to the Alto as it’s more powerful and refined and on the flipside the Eon’s engine gives more fuel efficiency compared to the Alto with an ARAI figure of 21.1 kmpl while the Alto has an ARAI figure of 19.73 kmpl.
Coming to equipment that spreads across all the trims, the base model will be a basic version with 145/80 R12 tubeless tyres, front disc rear drum brakes, driver side mirror, child lock, semi cloth upholstery, fuel lid and tailgate opening remote cable type, heater with 4 speed blower, 2 speed front wiper and washer, single folding rear seat bench. Then there is a second trim (ERA) which sits up the basic which will have everything from the base model plus body colour bumpers and chrome radiator grille, EPS indicator etc. Above the second trim (ERA) there is the third trim (MAGNA) which will feature 155/70 R13 tubeless tyres with wheel covers, central locking, both side rear view mirror with internal adjustment, front door map pockets, tilt steering, micro roof antenna etc. The Fourth trim (MAGNA Option) has extra Audio (CD/MP3/FM/AM), USB with Aux, 2 speakers on front doors, rear parcel tray. Finally there is a top of the line Variant (Sportz) which has driver side airbag, keyless entry, front fog light, body colour full kit, 3 spoke aluminium finishing steering wheel, metal finish on inside of door handle.
ABS is not given in any variant as its not needed in a car which has a smaller engine and size. In totality the Eon is a complete ready package with a trim to suit every kind of buyer. It will not only eat up others market but it may end up eating the Santro’s and i10’s market too. Priced around Rs. 3.2 lakh – 3.5 lakh and this car will find many buyers for sure. Eon is expected to be launched during the festive season. Stay tuned for more details.
