Hyundai Elantra N Hot Sedan Unveiled – Final Piece Of The N Puzzle

The sedan rides on 19-inch alloy wheels

The Hyundai Elantra N comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes a maximum of 280 PS

Hyundai has revealed the Elantra N, the high-performance variant of the new generation Elantra, which completes its N lineup of sporty offerings.

Building on the styling of the regular Elantra, the Elantra N looks aggressive thanks to parts like the front splitter, rear diffuser, dual exhaust outlets and wing mounted on the boot lid.

Also, a red strip is present at the bottom portion, to add to the sporty look of the car which measures 4675 mm long (2720 mm wheelbase), 1825 mm wide and 1415 mm tall.

The cabin is feature-rich

On the inside, the N-specific interior of the Elantra N features a multifunction steering wheel with 2 N buttons and paddle shifters, N seats (sports bucket front seats are optional) and N-only infotainment system.

There are more features such as a lap timer and N Track Map, while Elantra N models sold in Korea will be able to use the ‘Hyundai N’ app works with the hot sedan’s connected car tech to provide performance analysis functions.

Powering the hot sedan is a 2.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine putting out 280 PS and 392 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed DCT and enables the vehicle to do the 0-100 km/hr run in 5.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/hr.

The bucket seats offer a lowered driving position

To help the car put the power down properly, the Elantra N comes with an electronic limited slip differential and to maximise driving pleasure, there are features such as N Grin Shift (NGS), N Power Shift (NPS) and N Track Sense Shift (NTS).

For the driver to be able to stop the vehicle on a dime, Hyundai has equipped it with 360 mm brake discs. It also has an integrated drive axle (IDA) (a first for Hyundai).

The hot sedan’s engine makes 290 PS for short durations under boost

The car also features revised air intake system and air guides, different powertrain mount, dual compound insulator to the front suspension and dual compound trailing arm bush, apart from chassis reinforcements to offer more feedback.

Sadly, the Elantra N comes with an N Sound Equalizer (NSE) which emits virtual engine sound despite being equipped with a variable exhaust valve system.

It is the first N vehicle to use 245-size Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on 19-inch wheels
