Hyundai Custo MPV Spotted Undisguised Ahead Of China Launch

The massive grille with chrome garnish lends the car a good face

Hyundai Custo MPV has been spotted ahead of its launch in China, which is slated to happen this October.

The 7-seater MPV will be produced in China by Beijing Hyundai, a joint-venture between BAIC Motor and Hyundai Motor Company, is the first China-made MPV from Hyundai.

Design of the car looks good, with a large radiator grille with chrome garnish dominating everything and it looks very cool indeed. There are slim headlights with DRLs, fog lights with chrome garnish and a separate lower air dam.

It is the side of the car that looks dull and a bit unfinished, with van-like sliding rear doors, indents on the fenders and black cladding on the bottom part. It also looks like the chrome trim along the windows do not sit well between each door.

Rear of the car gets a massive light bar, with Hyundai spelled out in bold letters, and overall, the tail gate looks big and wide. One thing that is strange about the car is that the glass house seems to be a bit small for the car’s size.

Interior of the car looks up-to-date, with a massive portrait-style touchscreen (angled towards the driver), digital cluster, heads up display, flat bottom steering wheel and big chair-like seats separated by a sizeable centre console.

It seems like there is additional storage space under the top part of the console, as well as nicely-styled air vents and a chunky centre armrest.

Powering the Hyundai Custo MPV would be a 2.0-litre turbo petrol that produces 237 HP and 353 Nm and the unit will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and it is said that the car will not come in a hybrid form or as an EV.

Although the Hyundai Custo MPV will not come to India, the company is said to have already begun development work in South Korea on a Mahindra Marazzo competitor based on the Creta’s architecture.
