Hyundai Creta update to get RDE compliant engine options along with more kit

Hyundai will update the Creta ahead of the RDE norms deadline for 1st April 2023. While the facelifted model is still a while away, the carmaker will offer some new features and changes with this update.

Some of the safety features like 6 airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC and height-adjustable front seat belts will be offered as standard across all variants of the Creta.

It will also get ISOFIX and a 60:40 split rear seat for all the variants. Hyundai will also introduce rear disc brakes for the Creta. The engines will now get idle stop/start tech.

Currently the Creta is being offered with three engine options – 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine.

Out of these, Hyundai is likely to discontinue the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine option. The rest of the engines will get RDE compliance.

RDE (Real Driving Emission) norms will require a vehicle to have an on-board self-diagnostic device. It will monitor the vehicle’s driving emission levels in real time. It is considered to be the Phase 2 of BS6 emission norms.
