Hyundai Creta EV currently under testing, to go in production by the end of this year
Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing in India with heavy camouflage. The electric vehicle is scheduled to launch in India by January 2025 and will enter production by the end of this year in their Chennai plant.
While the test mule is covered in heavy camouflage material, we can make out the same design elements of the Creta EV compared to the ICE version. However, there will be some changes to differentiate the two products.
The electric Creta is expected to get a unique grille design, revised bumpers along with new alloy wheels to make it more aerodynamic. The reduced drag will help the electric vehicle offer better range. We can also expect some new colour options with the EV to make it look fresh in the segment.
Hyundai has silently discontinued the Kona electric recently as they have removed the product from their official website. Currently, the only electric Hyundai car on sale in India is the IONIQ 5. The South Korean carmaker is making way for the new Creta EV by discontinuing the Kona.
The mechanicals will be shared with the new generation Kona EV that is on sale in the international markets. This will be a front-mounted motor that will generate around 138 HP and 255 Nm of torque, powered by a 45 kWh battery pack. This battery capacity is slightly smaller than that of the MG ZS EV (50.3 kWh) and the Maruti eVX (48-60 kWh). The vehicle will also feature a front-mounted charging port.
The new Hyundai Creta EV will compete with the likes of MG ZS EV, upcoming Tata Curvv EV and Maruti eVX. What are your thoughts on this electric vehicle? Let us know in the comments section below.
