The Hyundai Creta base E+ and EX trims receive a 1.6-litre diesel engine option.
Hyundai has introduced the more powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine option for the Creta’s entry-level E+ and EX variants, which were earlier offered with a 1.4-litre diesel engine option only. The 1.6-litre diesel E+ and EX variants have been priced at Rs. 10.88 lakhs and Rs. 11.92 lakhs, respectively.
Equipment-wise, the E+ gets basic safety features such as dual airbags, ABS, speed-alert system, rear parking sensors and seat belt reminders. In addition to these, the EX variant offers an additional convenience feature in the form of a rearview camera. The E+ also gets remote locking, manual air conditioning, rear AC vents, power windows, height-adjustable driver’s seat and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. The EX, on the other hand, adds LED DRLs, fog-lamps and a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the mix.
The 1.6-litre diesel engine that currently powers the higher variants churns out a respectable 128 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox offered as standard. Sadly, no automatic option is an offer for them. The Hyundai Creta contests with the likes of the all-new Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Renault Captur, Mahindra XUV500, Nissan Kicks and the Tata Harrier.
The Hyundai Creta had positioned itself as the top-seller in its segment for quite a while. However, due to a recent increase in competition, the sales have started to tumble a bit. To boost them up, an all-new generation of the compact SUV is around the corner, expected to arrive sometime next year.
